The Back 40 Museum
It is both a whimsical and a serious place (kinda' like life). It offers many fanciful exhibits. These are merely intended to give the visitor a mostly effortless pause - similar to that of surfing a magazine. On the other hand, The Back 40 also presents an array of serious and important ideas, especially in the Reading Rooms. So, you choose, fanciful or serious? In either case, The Back 40 Museum is a large and varied place. Comfortable shoes and larger screens recommended. Did we mention - it's a really big place.

When viewed across their distance, the life and the times of all people are complex and multi-layered. And, my life is certainly no different.

So, The Back 40 Museum  is essentially just a convenient viewing platform for that complexity.  It simply affords, the visitor, the option to glimpse a more detailed picture of the times, the people, the experiences, and the thoughts which have shaped, my individual experience and identity.
But, why would those things or my own life even matter? In one sense, they don't. The world was surviving long before Larry Burnett came along. And likely, except for my family and friends, it will not even notice when I am gone.
But, in another sense, my life does, indeed, have distinct value. It is that same distinction which is shared across the entire human family. Certainly, each of us is a completely unique pixel in the larger human picture. And, that picture is really not complete without the color and definition which each of us contribute, individually, as our part.
And so, we post on Facebook. And, we keep journals and diaries. Or, we carve our name in the bark of a tree, or spray paint it on the side of a train car. We do these things because we know, intuitively, that our very unique contribution is supposed to matter to this larger thing of which we are a part.
So, welcome to The Back 40 Museum. This place is essentially my "spray paint" on the boxcar of life. Certainly, you will think of it what you will. But, my hope is that you will find it to be, in some way, a helpful contribution to that larger human picture.
